More Information

Finally I participated in the Gnan Vidhi. It is a two hour ceremony with a central part of about 48 minutes. During this tme, Deepakbhai chanted certain centences in Gujarati, which the participants were supposed to repeat out loud. I could perhaps repeat half the sentences, since I don’t speak any Gujarati. What is really going on during this chanting session is a mystery to me, but somehow Deepakbhai seems to use a special power he has to remove certain layers of illusion from people’s awareness.

When I opened my eyes again after 48 minutes, there was a clear sense of relief from some subtle layer of ego that had survived all my own efforts on the spiritual path. Since that precious moment, a new level of clarity and self – awareness beyond the mind and personality has always been with me. While certain layers of ego or inner conflict still arise to be addressed and seen through, they no longer cloud the fundamental sense of freedom and pure beingness as they used to in the past.

Gnan Vidhi is not a spiritual quick – fix, rather it seems to be a kind of powerful jump start for a process of liberation that still requires one’s full commitment.

For me, discovering Dadsri’s path of liberation has also been a rediscovery of true spirituality. True liberation, which is far beyond a first awakening to the Self, is something that requires the offering of oneself to Truth wholeheartedly. In Dadasri’s community, such dedication is alive today, manifested in a purity and integrity that is truly remarkable.

While I am a Westener and not intend on copying certain cultural traits from India, I find tremendous inspiration in this dharma. For a while, I had grown tired of the modern spiritual marketplace and its catering to mundane human desires and cravings. Discovering an “old school” dharma, one that is purely focused on transcendence, continues to inspire me and many others I have met who feel that his path of liberation addresses some fundamental yearning of their soul to come home.
